These programs are brought to your school district for parent nights, back to school nights, special events to help inform parents about various topics, or are ongoing programs offered on various dates.

The “Unseen” Scene

An educational tool for parents, teachers and other adults to strengthen your detective skills and search our simulated teen bedroom. Participants will search for hidden drugs and paraphernalia, while learning about concealment methods and drug culture reference. It is followed with an in-depth discussion of what was in the room, current trends and resources for how to help.

Active Parenting

Active Parenting is an evidence-based parenting program available for parents of children 5-12 years old and for parents of tweens and teens 13-18 years old. Over a series of six workshops parents develop skills that reduce the power struggle and enhance family communication.

 

Parents work together to understand what it means to use an active parenting style with positive discipline, practice having difficult conversations about risky behaviors including drugs and alcohol, learn to teach responsibility and independent decision making, and identify how to support academic success. Active Parenting is a proven approach to parenting utilizing sessions packed with activities, discussion, real-world examples, and feedback to develop indispensable techniques and insights for overcoming obstacles.Contact Courtney Gifford courtneyg@councilforprevention.org for more information about this program or to join a class. Pax Tools

PAX Tools is a collection of evidence-based, trauma-informed strategies to improve cooperation and self-regulation with youth. PAX Tools draws on decades of science to create strategies that support parents, youth workers, and other caring adults to create a nurturing environment that ultimately helps kids thrive!

 

PAX Tools is intended for any caring adult who interacts with children, such as parents, caregivers, professionals and volunteers.
